Anaphylaxis is a life-threatening emergency that requires prompt recognition of signs and symptoms, early administration of adrenaline (epinephrine) in adequate dosage, and aggressive volume replacement.

Last year, The Canberra Hospital had a increase in the incidence of anaphylaxis in the Operating Room.  A gap of knowledge was identified within the Perioperative Unit.  Janeya's presentation is on the Australian & New Zealand Anaesthetic Allergy Group (ANZAAG) guidelines for the diagnosis and management of anaphylaxis.  It gives everyone a streamlined response to anaphylaxis - when everyone is on the same page, it leads to a faster recognition of the situation and less delays to treatment leading to better patient outcomes.

Janeya has been a Registered Nurse for eight years working in Anaesthetics, PACU, Infection Control & Patient Safety.  Janeya has a passion for learning and sharing that knowledge with her peers.

The webinar will be recorded and a link to the recording will be available on the website in the future for members to view.

Everyone that has registered on the OTA website has been encouraged to register on the ZOOM website before the webinar to get the link to JOIN the webinar on the night.
